Children, School Bus Driver Injured In Southern Maryland Crash: State Police

Nine children were on board a school bus in Maryland when it was involved in a crash early on Monday morning, state police say.

The week got off to a rough start for some students in in Southern Maryland, when a Caroline County Public Schools bus was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Talbot County when a driver failed to stop at a stop sign.

Shortly before 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, troopers responded to the area of MD 328 (Matthewstown Road) at Three Bridges Branch Road after a driver in a Kia Sportage blew through a stop sign at a four-way intersection and crashed into the side of the bus, causing traffic mayhem in the area.

Police say that nine children and the bus driver were all taken to area hospitals for treatment of undisclosed injuries, and their parents have been contacted. The underage driver of the Kia is not being identified. 

Charges may be pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

The crash led to several lane closures in the area while state police investigated and cleared the scene.
